Yes, it is mid November already and some of you probably miss the hot,\u00a0sunshine filled summer days. That is why we are looking back on a truly colorful August wedding that will fill your heart with warmth and rays of sunlight. It is the wedding of our beautiful real bride Ruth and Nick who met at the Arts Club in Soho over 11 years ago. The pair got married at\u00a0St. Margaret of Antioch Church in Sea Palling and held their reception about a\u00a0mile down the road at\u00a0the Waxham Great Barn in Norfolk.<\/p>\n

THE PROPOSAL<\/strong><\/p>\n

We were on a hiking weekend in the lake district, 10 years to the day since we first met. He led me up a mountain and across a ridge path to get to the peak of Helvellyn in 70mph winds and terrible visibility. At the top he collapsed over on his ankle and called out to me that his ankle was hurt. I went to look at the damage and he pulled out a ring from his sock and asked me to marry him.<\/p>\n

THE THEME<\/strong><\/p>\n

No real theme, though we were by the sea and in the countryside, sleeping in bell tents in festival style campsite and keeping the celebrations going all weekend.<\/p>\n

MOST MAGICAL MOMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Riding to the church in the boat my dad used to spend many happy hours in with his great friend Fred. A complete surprise to Nick!<\/p>\n

FINDING THE DRESS<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was ever hopeful when I entered into a google search \u2018eco wedding dresses\u2019<\/strong>, and this is what lead me to Sanyukta<\/a>. I had been aware of fairly traded organic fibres<\/strong> prior to this and I will continue to support this industry as much as I can. I definitely feel their comfort and durability are second to none.<\/p>\n

THE WEDDING DRESS<\/strong><\/p>\n

My dress was unusual but I was definitely a bride \u2013 I didn\u2019t want to be a typical bridal princess. I have never had dreams of my wedding day<\/strong>, of what I would wear \u2013 this was all new and confusing to me. I\u2019ve never really liked being all tightly wrapped up. My character is pretty relaxed but with a strong personality and I guess this is also how I like to dress. This\u00a0wedding\u00a0dress<\/strong> did me justice being both effortless and comfortable to move around in but also bold in its design.<\/p>\n

BEING A SANYUKTA SHRESTHA BRIDE<\/strong><\/p>\n

When I met Sanyukta I apologised and told her I was an antibride and likely not to like much, going on my previous experiences. The thing I really fell for when trying on Sanyukta\u2019s designs was the natural texture, feel and look of the hemp silk. There were elements of each design I liked – Sanyukta took control and put all the pieces into a bespoke dress<\/strong> <\/a>design that felt truly original and converted this antibride. I love my wedding gown\u00a0and wish there was an excuse to wear it again!<\/p>\n

When I met Ruth, she told me that she doesn’t really want to wear a bridal gown. So I knew that I had to make something especially for her in order to\u00a0bring out the bride inside of her. She needed a dress she would feel comfortable in and would make her stay true to herself.\u00a0Due to her unique personality, individuality and taste for unusual fabrics, it had to be a bespoke wedding gown<\/strong>. Ruth’s dress was made out of milk, hemp silk, organic cotton and crochet lace<\/strong>. I absolutely loved working with Ruth and I am so glad that she found happiness in my design. – Sanyukta<\/p>\n

WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING ADVICE FOR BRIDES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Keep going until you find something you truly feel comfortable with and excited by. Choose a dress designer\/maker you can really get on with and talk to. Don\u2019t be scared to have a dialogue about anything you are concerned about along the way. Everyone wants you to be happy in this dress!<\/p>\n

Not intentionally but if I think about it \u2013 I had an antique gold necklace I wear permanently as a momento of my late father for something old, a new wedding dress, shoes, veil, pants etc, diamond heirloom earrings from my now mother-in-law as something I borrowed, and for something blue \u2013 I\u2019m sure there was a blue flower in my hair?? And there were lots of blue bridesmaids\u2026.<\/p>\n
