Holly and David’s wedding is set in the beautiful English\u00a0countryside<\/strong> on a sunny day in May. It is a truly rustic and hand-made wedding with colorful flowers and vintage touches. Our real bride<\/strong> Holly met her beau when both were studying at\u00a0Cardiff University. They\u00a0were friends first and then once the two left University, they\u00a0became more than friends! The couple\u00a0were together for six years before David\u00a0finally popped the question!<\/p>\n

THE PROPOSAL<\/strong><\/p>\n

David proposed on the last day of an amazing holiday in France in July 2014. We had spent the holiday touring some vineyards and then David proposed on the last night whilst we were out on a walk. It was very unexpected and romantic!<\/p>\n

THE VENUE<\/strong><\/p>\n

We got married in the Church of St. Nicholas in Hinxworth,<\/strong> the little village where we live in Hertfordshire. Our reception was held in a rustic barn<\/strong> nearby on working farm. The owners only host a handful of weddings there and ask for a donation to be made to charity from couples who get to hold their reception there. This was the perfect opportunity for us make a donation to the Nepal earthquake fund<\/strong> as a way of saying\u00a0 thank you to the amazing people who crafted my dress and to help the country to start to recover from the disaster.<\/p>\n

THE THEME<\/strong><\/p>\n

David and I wanted a relaxed feel to our wedding day, with a French twist! Our wedding was very rustic and hand-made, we made the most of all the skills of our family and friends and they all played a part from arranging the flowers, to making the cake, performing the music, sewing bunting and decorating jam jars!<\/p>\n

Both of us could not believe how amazing it felt to look around the room and see everyone we love altogether in one room having fun and helping us to celebrate.

FINDING THE DRESS<\/strong><\/p>\n

My bridesmaid recommended Sanyukta<\/strong>\u00a0Shrestha<\/strong> <\/a>after her sister wore one of her dresses on her wedding day. As soon as I walked into the Behuli boutique in Fulham<\/strong> <\/a>I felt relaxed and comfortable and when I started looking at the beautiful and unique dresses on the rail, I instantly knew that there was something special about these dresses.<\/p>\n

I know every bride must feel the same, but I really did feel beautiful in my dress. Sanyukta<\/strong> and her team had worked hard to ensure that it fitted me perfectly and I felt both glamorous and comfortable all at once.<\/p>\n

BEING A SANYUKTA SHRESTHA BRIDE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ethos of Sanyukta fitted in perfectly with our style of wedding. We wanted to make sure that everything we did was worthwhile in some way and gave something back rather than being all about us. Wherever we could we used local suppliers, bought items from local markets and handmade our decorations. So when I found out about the Fairtrade-organic fabrics<\/strong> and knew I would be wearing an eco-friendly dress<\/strong>, it was perfect! I also loved that there was a story behind my dress and so much hard work and effort had gone into making it, how many brides can say that?!<\/p>\n

WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING ADVICE FOR BRIDES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Be open-minded. I thought I knew what style of dress I wanted but when I tried it on, it just didn\u2019t suit me and didn\u2019t feel right. It\u2019s worth trying on several different styles and shapes to make sure you feel as comfortable and beautiful as possible.

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING BLUE<\/strong><\/p>\n

My engagement ring<\/strong> combined most of these things! My grandmother sadly passed away when I was only a few months old and she left her beautiful engagement ring to me. David knew about this and secretly arranged to propose to me with it which was so special. The ring was so old that the stones were not secure so we re-designed the ring together with the blue sapphire as the centre-piece, so my ring is old, new and blue! We had a couple of diamonds spare after redesigning the ring and so we made them into earrings to give to my mother on our wedding day to say thank you for all of her support. Needless to say, there wasn\u2019t a dry eye in the room when we gave them to her!! I was also lent a beautiful gold beaded clutch-bag from a friend to use on my wedding day, so that was my something borrowed.<\/p>\n
