Our real bride in focus today is the beautiful Maureen<\/strong>, who wed her lovely husband Clifford in September 2014 in a bespoke<\/a> Sanyukta Shrestha gown<\/strong>. She is living proof that a coloured wedding dress<\/strong> can remain classic and elegant<\/strong>, and is perfect for bringing out a vibrant personality<\/strong> and making a gorgeous statement<\/strong> on your wedding day.<\/p>\n

They married at the Hurlingham Club <\/a>in Fulham<\/strong>– an impressive city centre country oasis<\/strong>, with romantic grounds and architecture that had an understated contemporary\u00a0 finesse.<\/p>\n

Tell us about your husband and how he proposed<\/strong><\/p>\n

His name is Clifford Standen<\/strong>, we met in a pub in Surbiton, Surrey, where\u00a0he was working there at the time.<\/p>\n

We mutually decided to get engaged, but he still took me out as a surprise and presented me with a beautiful engagement ring that he had chosen himself. He knows I am an Art-Deco fan<\/strong> and bought a genuine Art-Deco ring<\/strong> with an Emerald cut diamond<\/strong> at the centre. He then formally asked me to marry him. This was at one of our favourite restaurants Colbert<\/a> on Sloane Square in Chelsea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What was your vision for the day?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We held a civil ceremony<\/strong> at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham. It’s a beautiful country paradise in the middle of London<\/strong>. The setting, the food and the service were not only faultless<\/strong>, but inspired<\/strong>. They provided everything that we had hoped for and we were blessed by a beautiful sunny and warm day<\/strong> in September.<\/p>\n

For my dress the inspiration was Audrey Hepburn<\/strong> and Sanyukta translated this into a beautiful wedding gown. I wanted the flowers to appear wild<\/strong> to fit with the countryside feel<\/strong> of Hurlingham. We both wanted the day to be like a relaxed informal lunch<\/strong> party for friends and family.<\/p>\n

The most magical moment of your day?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saying “I do”<\/strong> to my husband in front of friends and family.<\/p>\n

How did you know a Sanyukta Shrestha wedding dress was the one for you as a bride?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was aware of her elegant boutique<\/a><\/strong> and the beautiful window displays<\/strong> but it was only after making an appointment and meeting her and her assistant where they immediately understood<\/strong> what I wanted and developed my idea with fabulous fabrics <\/a>and trimmings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“It looked and felt perfect. My confidence was reinforced by the amazing comments that I received,<\/em>
\nthe most remembered being from an unlikely source- the driver that took me to the Hurlingham Club!”<\/em><\/p>\n

Do you have any advice for brides-to-be on wedding dress shopping?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mine was not a traditional wedding dress, but my advice is to have a very good concept in mind<\/strong> of the style and shape that will suit you, then take the designer’s advice<\/strong> on the best way to achieve what you want.<\/p>\n
